Educational Programmes

The Education department organizes various programmes to assist our audiences in engaging with our collections and special exhibitions. These include:

Workshops
The National Gallery organizes regular workshops for teachers. Teachers are able to learn different ways of using the Gallery and its collections to teach their students. Workshops explore the permanent collections and temporary exhibitions. For more information on the next workshop please contact the National Gallery.

Artist Talks at the Gallery
The Education department organizes regular gallery talks in conjunction with our temporary exhibitions. Artists included in ‘Meet the artist’ panel discussions talk about their work and are available for question & answer sessions with the audience.

Art on the Waterfront
The Art on the Waterfront summer programme is held in conjunction with the Multicare Foundation at our site or in an adjacent site in the Ocean Boulevard area. The programme lasts the entire month of July and serves children of ages 6-18. Children and adolescents from a variety of schools and areas can spend a summer exploring the many ways of making art, including painting, drawing, watercolour, collage, photography, macramé, tie and dye, sculpture, ceramics and papier mache. During the month, students were able to look at and discuss works of art in the National Gallery and use the collections as a resource and inspiration for their own work. Art on the Waterfront seeks to provide worthwhile and valuable experience for children during the summer holidays. But we also ensure that it is an enjoyable experience: The children have fun while learning.
